As a writer, I find myself often lost in my own world. I love to get lost in a good book, or dive headlong into a complex piece of writing. In the same way, I love to get lost in the worlds of my characters. In this post, I want to share with you one of my favorite worlds: A’zalia delancey coffey’s world. A’zalia is the daughter of an influential Jamaican coffee farmer and the granddaughter of an enslaved African woman. She has spent her life fighting for justice and equality for her people.
Her journey begins by working on her family farm and then rising up the ranks of Jamaican society through her political activism. Through her experiences as a woman of color in a patriarchal society, A’zalia has written a gripping novel that speaks to the issues facing women today. I strongly encourage you to give it a read!
